Cavenagh Bridge & Singapore River

Cavenagh Bridge, Singapore’s oldest bridge, was built in 1868 and named after Sir Orfeur Cavenagh, the last Governor of Singapore appointed by the East India Company. This pedestrian-only bridge links The Fullerton Singapore with the Asian Civilisations Museum and Victoria Theatre and Concert Hall across the Singapore River.

The Singapore River which runs under more than 10 bridges in the area was once the lifeline of the city where cargo from ships were unloaded on its banks. Now a tourist and leisure attraction, quaint bum boats traverse its waters filled with curious visitors on a river tour of the city while the 6km promenade on either side of the historic river is filled with art sculptures, kiosks, wine bars and alfresco dining choices.
